This publication corresponds to the first volume of the collection entitled “A new curatorial script for the Museo Histórico Nacional” (hereinafter MHN). Its content is the result of a profound mesological and museographic reflection on the story that is currently exhibited in the permanent exhibition, under the question of the meaning and the role that a historic museum should assume in a society with new demands for knowledge about its past.
Pueblos en movimiento is the first of the eight curatorships that make up this new script, dedicated to learning about the history of the peoples and cultures that have inhabited the lands we call Chile today, in a temporal arc that follows the first human traces from 12,500 B.C. to the sighting of European navigators in 1520. Over 140 pieces structure the main tour based on the concepts of "ways of life" and "movement", with the aim of focusing on the cultural and social practices that characterize each group in particular, according to the recurring patterns in their way of inhabiting the territory.

La presente publicación corresponde al primer volumen de la colección Un nuevo guion para el Museo Histórico Nacional (en adelante, MHN). Su contenido es resultado de una profunda reflexión museológica y museográfica acerca del relato que hoy se exhibe en la muestra permanente, bajo la pregunta por el significado y el rol que debería asumir un museo de historia en una sociedad con nuevas demandas hacia el conocimiento sobre su pasado. Pueblos en movimiento es la primera de las ocho curadurías que componen este nuevo guion, dedicado a conocer la historia de los pueblos y culturas que han habitado las tierras que hoy llamamos Chile, en un arco temporal que recorre las primeras huellas humanas datadas hacia el 12.500 a.C., hasta el avistamiento de navegantes europeos, en 1520. Más de 140 piezas estructuran el recorrido principal a partir de los conceptos de “modos de vida” y “movimiento”, con el objetivo de centrarse en las prácticas culturales y sociales que caracterizan a cada grupo en particular de acuerdo a los patrones recurrentes en su forma de habitar el territorio.
